Daily Outbursts
Exhibition. Masks. 1.5m distance.
Writer, artist and part-time superhero Jess Thom co-founded the organization and the fictional character Touretteshero in 2010 as a creative response to her experience of living with Tourettes Syndrome. She tours her stand-up show «Stand Up, Sit Down, Roller Over» (2019 at auawirleben), performs as in Beckett's short play «Not I» and creates artistic projects with children and young adults with disabilities.
In the series «Daily Outbursts», Jess Thom publishes the most extraordinary of her verbal ticks on social media. She calls this part of the effects of her Tourette syndrome the Language-Generating Machine and thus transforms it into a superhero trait. In the exhibition area in the festival center, you can find a new «Daily Outburst» every day.
